Moto trip Croatia - Pula
After serving breakfast and a cup of coffee on the terrace of our accommodation in Zagreb, we put our luggages on the motorcycles and continued towards Pula. After traveling 300km we arrived at the accommodation and then we went somewhere nearby to eat.
It was already 6 in the evening, so we decided it was the ideal time for us (at sunset) to visit some of the most popular beaches here: Hawaii, Valkane and Umbrella. All three are located in the Verudela district, which is a well-known location for its spa resorts and the Pula Aquarium is also located here. The beaches are small and with stones, but very clean and well-kept, at the same time offering a vibe of wildness and tranquility.
Among these beaches hides a truly fascinating and beautiful place, popular among rock-jumping and swimming enthusiasts, Verudela Canyon. To get to the canyon it is necessary to go down some steep and slippery rocks covered with clay and mud. Under no circumstances should you come here with beach flip-flops. I also do not recommend raising the drone in this area because you do not feel the wind, but a few meters from you, it is very strong. This is where the drone we came with died 🙃 and its remains together with the memory card sank to the bottom of the Adriatic Sea 🙃
We then went to the city and stopped at the port where we walked a bit on the waterfront and then visited the city center. Pula Arena is the most famous tourist attraction of the city. The huge Roman amphitheater is estimated to be able to receive approximately 23.000 spectators. Unfortunately, the last entrance to the amphitheater was 10 minutes before we arrived, that is at 8 o'clock. However, we were able to get close enough to admire its interior.
We also found the famous Aroma ice cream here and we each took a cone to enjoy it on the streets of the old center. We passed by The Twin Gates, Arch of Sergii, Forum Square with the Temple of Augustus, and by the walls of Pula Citadel. Unfortunately, we didn't get to visit this one either.
Around 9 o'clock some black clouds were approaching accompanied by lightning and thunder, the wind was already intensifying in the city, so we decided to run to the motorbikes and take it to the accommodation. We left right in time; behind us, a heavy rain had started, from which we constantly managed to run away from it. It caught up with us right when we arrived at the accommodation and we started to put the covers on the motorcycles. If that's not skill of fending off the rain, then I don't know what it is 😂.
PS:
If you come here by car, there is a large car park is on one side of Pula Arena. We recommend this as an excellent place to start before looping through the city’s main sights.
If you have more time in Pula, here are some interesting things to do or see:

- Explore Jama Baredine Cave
- Kamenjak National Park https://www.saltinourhair.com/croatia/kamenjak-national-park/), and eat at Safari Bar
