Moto trip Croatia - Zadar

Image
Today is a special and very relevant and important day in our motorcycle adventure in Croatia. Today we are riding on the European route E65, also known as the Adriatic Highway 🛣️. The Croatian section of the Adriatic Highway is the state road D8, which starts at the border with Slovenia, crosses Croatia mostly along the coast through Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik and ends at the border with Montenegro. The total length of the road through Croatia is 643 kilometers. It is a paradise for motorcyclists and landscape lovers by any means of transport. A superb road, full of more and more breathtaking views, in the leftside the mountain, on the right side the Adriatic Sea, behind Rijeka, in front Zadar. We leisurely admired the landscapes, we stopped whenever we thought a certain place was worth a deeper meditation, we enjoyed every curve of the road accompanied by a clear sky, a bright blue sky ☀️.           ...

Moto trip Croatia - Rovinj

Image
Today we decided to take a day trip to the town of Rovinj and stay in Rijeka in the evening.           We dressed in "comfortable equipment" (meaning motorcycle jeans instead of touring eqipment) today because we were going to walk almost all day, and carrying around the helmets is uncomfortable enough 😅. We found a special parking lot for motorcycles on Ulica Giosue Carduccia and also free of charge.           Rovinj is also called "The Little Italy". This small town was, in my opinion, perhaps the most beautiful of all the ones visited during the entire 2-week trip. It remained deep in my heart for the beauty, the calm, the silence, the colors, the cleanliness, the minimalist stone streets, the picturesque landscapes and absolutely everything that this wonderful town has to offer.           We walked the promenade area of the port. Most of the postcards ...

Moto trip Croatia - Pula

Image
After serving breakfast and a cup of coffee on the terrace of our accommodation in Zagreb, we put our luggages on the motorcycles and continued towards Pula. After traveling 300km we arrived at the accommodation and then we went somewhere nearby to eat.           It was already 6 in the evening, so we decided it was the ideal time for us (at sunset) to visit some of the most popular beaches here: Hawaii, Valkane and Umbrella. All three are located in the Verudela district, which is a well-known location for its spa resorts and the Pula Aquarium is also located here. The beaches are small and with stones, but very clean and well-kept, at the same time offering a vibe of wildness and tranquility.            Among these beaches hides a truly fascinating and beautiful place, popular among rock-jumping and swimming enthusiasts, Verudela Canyon. To get to the canyon it is necessary to go d...

Moto trip Croatia - Zagreb

Image
In the morning we set off towards the border with Croatia and towards the first location in this country-destination, namely its capital, Zagreb.           We arrived quite late, around 4 p.m., after a 5-hour and 400km journey. We were quite tired, hadn't eaten, and Andrei had blisters on feet from yesterday’s walk, so we quickly head to Decathlon and bought a new pair of comfortable canvas sneakers. We also added a water-repellant spray to our equipment to prepare for the upcoming rainy days. Coincidentally, there was a McDonald's near us and we were very hungry. It's not exactly the best food option, of course, but I don't think we've ever missed the opportunity to experience the Mc in every new country we're in 👀.           To move around Zagreb, we used the Moj ZET application 🚌 which works as a kind of virtual card. Be careful how much money you load it with because the remaining a...

Moto trip Croatia - Belgrade

Image
The next day we visited the city of Belgrade. To move around the city, we used public transport, and we paid through the Beograd Plus application. A daily ticket for all areas of the city costs 150 RSD ~ 1.3 € and is valid for 24 hours after purchase.           First stop was Belgrade Fortress (closed on Monday). Entry is free. The fortress is located on top of a hill, in the center of a huge park, Kalemegdan Park. From here you can admire the northern and western part of the city and the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. The fortress was built in 279 BC and represented the strongest stronghold in Europe, being used as a protective structure between the 2nd and 18th centuries. After World War II, the fortress was protected, being among the cultural monuments officially declared by Serbia.           The park has a lot of outdoor activities, from archery and go-karting, to sports fi...

Moto trip Croatia - from Bucharest to Belgrade

Image
The Moto Adventure starts on May 18, in Bucharest, at 7 am. We equipped ourselves, attached the top box, the side cases and the bag with the documents, fueled up and hit the road. We had a long journey to Belgrade of 600 km, so we had prepared some sandwiches and something sweet the night before so that we wouldn't have to stop at a restaurant on the way.           We left Romania at the Portile de Fier 1 border, and continued the shortest way to Belgrade. We made several stops along the way to loosen our bones, to eat and to drink a clean-up coffee.          We  arrived in Belgrade at 7 o'clock in the evening, one hour behind the time zone, so we basically spent 11 hours on the road.            After we checked in, we went to have dinner at Smash Burgers where we ate, and I'm not exaggerating, one of the best burgers so far - easily in the top 3. To mak...

3, 2, Croatia, START!

Image
Here we go again on the adventure!            We didn't need much time to think about the next destination and the first vacation of this kind - the first motorcycle tour outside the country. For this initiation into the world of motorcycle adventures, we chose Croatia as destination; a country that I have visited in the past and which remained deeply embedded in my heart. The ideal time to visit this country is May, and we chose to leave in the second half of the month.           In short, the chosen route was Romania - Serbia - Croatia - Bosnia & Herzegovina - Serbia - Romania and we were away from May 18th to June 2nd.           Broadly speaking, we made 14-16 days available, with the possibility of making some changes to the plan in case the weather does not keep up with us or certain unforeseen situations ...
